History of Our School

In the years after the recognition of sovereignty, in  Bandung  there was a high school known as SMA PARKI ( Pasundan .).) under the leadership of Mr. Among Praja. This school occupies a building on Jalan Pasundan, then moved to Jalan Sumatra 36A Bandung (now the building is used by SMP Negeri 5 Bandung). In the academic year 1950/1951, or to be precise, August 1, 1950, SMA PARKI became a State Senior High School. Since then SMA PARKI became SMA NEGERI 3 A/B Bandung (At that time there were three SMA Negeri in Bandung, namely SMA 1 B/C and SMA 2 B/C on Jl. Belitung, and SMA 3 A/B on Jl. Sumatra 36A Bandung) with two majors, namely Part A and Part B led by Mrs. Sutjinah. It's a shame that Sutjiah's mother couldn't take care of SMA Negeri III any longer, because she had to follow her husband who was on duty outside  Java . And in his place is Mr. Nawawi.

Under the care of Mr. Nawawi, the wheels of SMA's development are getting smoother day by day. Unfortunately, in the 1952/1953 school year, Mr. Nawawi left SMA III due to his busy schedule as a member  of the DPR . The position of the Head of SMA Negeri III was continued by his deputy.

Mr. MIKartadipradja is constantly racking his brains for the advancement of SMA III. In the 1953/1954 school year, SMAN III entered its third year – infancy has passed to enter childhood. Then came the decree from the government. The Government of Education and Culture decided that SMA III was divided into two, namely:

  • SMA IIIA Language Section is led by Mr. MI. Kartadipradja and
  • SMA IIIB Science Section must be led by Mr. Tjetje Djajadisastra

Both schools use the building on Jl. Sumatra No. 36A dab Jl. Java No. 5 which is now used by  SMP Negeri 2 Bandung  and  SMP Negeri 5 Bandung .

Three years later, in August 1956 to be exact, the school got its name from SMA Negeri IIIA to SMA Negeri IA, while SMA IIIB became SMA Negeri IVB. 1958 On August 1, 1958 these two 'siblings' separated. SMA IA was moved to the North Bandung area, occupying a Lyceum building on Jl. Dago . Meanwhile, SMA IVB changed its status to  SMA Negeri IV . Towards the transfer of IA's high school to the  Dago area, Mr. MI Kartadipradja is entering retirement. So that at the time of the hijrah the school leadership was handled by Mr. Otong Suraatmadja. The atmosphere and condition of the school has improved a lot. The formation of teaching and administrative staff is more complete. School facilities are perfected, the quality of lessons and student achievement continues to improve. The field of sports can be proud of, as well as in the field of art. After about six years Mr. Otong Suraatmadja dedicated himself to SMA Negeri IA. It was time for him to enjoy his retirement.

Drs. Abdullah Djumantradja officially led SMA IA starting November 2, 1964. Previously he was the Principal of SMA Negeri Purwakarta. Under his leadership, SMA IA grew fragrant. The number of teachers' rooms has increased, school discipline, sports, and the arts are increasingly recognized in the community.

July 1965 was a year of improvement in the field of education. For the first time, SMAN IA opened the Department of Life Sciences, Social Sciences and Cultural Literature. In accordance with the addition of majors based on government regulations, the name of SMAN IA was changed to SMA Negeri 1 Bandung.

SMA Negeri 1 Bandung changed its name to SMAN Jl. Ir. H. Juanda 81/17 Bandung. In 1971, Drs. H. Abdullah Djumantradja gets pension rights. For the time being, the leadership of the school is held by the Supervisor from the West Java Provincial High School Supervisory Office, namely Drs. Siddhartha.

Starting January 11, 1972, SMA 1 was led by Drs. Asep Setiadi. Previously he was the head of SMAN Purwakarta. It was he who aspired to build a hall, which is now known as the SMAN 1 Hall. This hall is often used as a meeting place between the Heads of SMP/SMA throughout the Municipality/ Bandung Regency and  even throughout West Java , which is directly led by both the Head of Dikmenum and by the Head of Department of Education and Culture. Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Education and Culture of West Java Province. In 1974 Drs. Asep Setiadi was withdrawn to the Regional Office of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Prop. West Java as Supervisor.

Drs. Hanafi, who was previously the Head of SMAN Ujungberung, filled the position left by Drs. Asep Setiadi. This year, SMAN Jl. Ir. H. Juanda changed its name to SMA Negeri 1 Bandung until now. Under his leadership the school made rapid progress. In a relatively short time various fields have increased. Among others:

In the educational field, various training courses are held regularly, improve student achievement, improve discipline, raise the quality level of education, develop skills and arts, establish a language laboratory (temporarily use the study room) as well as the sports field.

The educational field underwent a system change, precisely at the beginning of the 1985/1986 school year, the majors were divided into 3 programs, which consisted of Program A.1 (  Physical Sciences ); Program A.2 (Biological  Sciences ) and Program A.3 (Social  Sciences ). In mid-April 1985, Pak Hanafi left SMAN 1. After about ten years of coaching, SMA 1 has become a school that has a name in the community. Before he moved to the Regional Office of the Ministry of Education and Culture of West Java Province as a supervisor, he was passionate about managing Filial SMAN 1 Bandung in the  Lembang area . Which is now independent as SMAN 1 Lembang.

Drs. Eddy Permadi replaces Mr. Hanafi, he was previously the Principal of SMA Sumedang. He tried to improve the progress of this school, among others in the field of school facilities, namely completing the construction of study rooms and their facilities, improving the library space, rehabilitating the hall. And for his efforts, the construction of the Language Laboratory room was started with the Pelita Project grant. However, before the construction was completed, he got a new assignment at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Education and Culture of West Java Province as Supervisor. In July 1986 Mr. Muharam, who was previously the Head of SMAN 11 Bandung, led this school. Many things received his attention, including the construction of the Teacher Picket Room, reforestation of the school environment and others. However, on December 12, 1989, he got a new assignment as a supervisor in the Regional Office of the Ministry of Education and Culture of West Java Province

Since December 2, 1989, officially Drs. Solichin Riva'i leads SMAN 1 Bandung. His efforts include renovating two study rooms, providing a set of  computers  for the needs of students and teachers in supporting KBM as well as building a special room for Assistant Principals and adding equipment to the Headmaster's room.

He won the trust of the Depdikbud Prov. Jabar attended education in  England , namely attending "Coutses of Further Professional Study" at  the University of Nottingham  School of  Nottingham ,  London .

Dra. Saetje Nitimihardja continued the leadership of Drs. Solichin Riva'i as Principal of SMAN 1, to be precise, from November 1, 1994, previously was Principal of SMAN 22 Bandung. In carrying out his leadership, he applies the 3D motto, namely Discipline in duty, Adult in action, and Dynamic in activities. The initial steps of implementing the motto include starting with improving student discipline, closing the back door and the north front door. So in and out of the school environment only through the south front door. Then provide two security guards following the room. Other programs that were implemented during his leadership included beautifying the school environment in such a way that it is clean, green and makes you feel at home in the school environment. teacher parking lot, employees and students are united in one place, namely in front of the Library room. Likewise, other educational facilities and infrastructure, namely renovating the hall, increasing the procurement of sound systems, wireless and installing paving blocks around basketball courts and other places. Build a garden Biology , arrangement of  worship facilities  and building new water sources with Jet Pumps instead of using water from PDAM. Intracurricular activities are getting better with the increase in NEM obtained by students in the 1995/1996 school year. Extracurricular activities are getting more orderly and increasing with the students getting various championship titles. And at the beginning of the 1994/1995 school year  , a new curriculum was implemented  in 1994, which replaced the 1984 Curriculum. The A.1, A.2 and A.3 Program System was replaced with a system of  Science  majors  , Social Studies  majors and  Languages majors .

Dra. Sadiyah Winarsih starting December 23, 1996 led SMA Negeri 1 replacing the leadership of Mr. Kriyodono, previously Sadiyah's mother was the Head of SMA Negeri 2 Cimahi she is a senior lecturer at  SMA Negeri 5 BandungThe steps that have been taken by Mrs. Sadiyah, among others, are renovating the prayer room, canteen, hall, fence of the left and front yard of the school as well as revamping the garden both in the yard with the school and in the school environment along with the fish pond, asphalting the school yard. , renovating the Library room, installing tiled floors in the Administration room. Principal teachers, built four extra-curricular activities rooms, a teacher picket room, a Bina Sejahtera Cooperative room, built a special motorbike parking space for teachers and students, created a new channel specifically for drinking water from PDAM, built an IPS Lab, and installed an internet network. And the proudest thing is that Hj. Sadiyah has managed to take care of the Land Certificate of SMA Negeri 1, This is proven by the issuance of a Certificate (Tanda Proof of Rights) dated August 19, 1999 from the Bandung Municipal Land Office with the number. with a land area of 8,450 square meters. This can ward off various issues/gossips in the community that SMA Negeri 1 will be moved to another location/place. In the field of teaching staff, three teaching staff have been allowed (Physics  and  Biology  to  Australia ,  Texas  and  Mexico  to gain knowledge at the S2 level. He has also succeeded in fixing the Teachers and Employees Cooperative of SMA Negeri 1 as well as cooperatives that have legal entities. Meanwhile, the achievements of the students are no less interesting. this can be seen in the rubric on student achievement for the 1998/1999 academic year.

Located in the Hall of SMA Negeri 1 Bandung, Dra. Hj. Sadiyah Winarsih on Monday, May 1, 2000 handed over the responsibility for managing this school to Drs. H. Ruhaendi W as a temporary official witnessed by the Head of the Bandung City Education Office and Staff. Several Heads of State Senior High Schools in the sub-district of North Bandung as well as the Teacher and Administrative Staff of SMAN 1. On the above date was the first day of Hj Sadiyah's mother entering retirement after devoting herself to the world of education for about three decades, while Drs. Ruhaedi is the Principal of  SMA Negeri 2 Bandung definitive. Starting on August 11, 2000, Drs. H. Ili Setiadi is the Principal of SMA Negeri 7 Bandung. Even before he was appointed as Head of SMA Negeri Jasinga Kab Bogor (1989) he has led several high schools, namely SMA Majalaya Kab. Bandung, Pymt Principal of SMAN Baleendah, Pymt Principal of SMAN Ciparay and Principal of  SMAN 24 Bandung (formerly SMA Negeri Ujungberung). The program which was implemented in 2000/2001 after continuing the previous program in accordance with the existing situation and conditions, must also follow various changes related to the implementation of Nuu No. areas that bring new nuances in the management of the education system. The new nuances include the development of ideas that lead to efforts to improve the quality of education management at the school level, namely through the application of School-Based Management (SBM). SBM as a model for implementing education decentralization policies is an innovative and strategic concept towards improving the quality of education through a school management approach. In relation to the MBS model, The existence of the School Board is an inseparable part of the School Board, meaning that substantively the roles and functions of the school BP3/Kopmite institutions will dissolve and merge with the School Board. In connection with the hope of producing good quality, the SBM concept must pay attention to quality aspects that must be controlled comprehensively, namely:

  • The character of the quality of education, both input, process and output
  • Financing
  • Method of delivering lesson materials
  • Services to students and parents/community

In accordance with the aspects that must be controlled above, starting from the 2001/2002 school year, our school will seek to optimize the use of learning time from two ships to one ship (KBM for all classes takes place in the morning). One alternative solution that can be chosen for this is by gradually reducing the number of study groups, for example, for the 2001/2002 school year the number of class 1 study groups only received 9 (nine) classes. It is hoped that in the 2003/2004 academic year all levels can study only in the morning. During the day, it can be used for other improvements, such as extracurricular activities, computers, learning strengthening, etc.

On June 1, 2003, Mr. Drs. H. Ili Setiadi enters his retirement/retirement period. He has done a lot while leading this school. Among other things, starting from the 2002/2003 academic year, KBM was held from morning to noon for all classes. So that the number of classes shrank, which in the previous school year the number of classes was 33 classes (grades 1,2 and 3 each had 11 classes). Now there are only 27 classes, namely grades 1, 2 and 3, each with 9 classes. Then at the beginning of the 2002/2003 academic year, Mr. H. Ili has formed a School Committee for SMA Negeri 1 Bandung, in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of National Education No. 044/U/2002 on the City Board of Education and School Committees. Based on the Assignment Letter from the Head of the Bandung City Education Office No. 800/1714/TU/2003 concerning Assignments as Acting/PLT Principals of SMA Negeri 1 Bandung, starting on June 5, 2003 Drs. Nana Suarna H.MM leads SMA Negeri 1 Bandung as PLT. Previously Drs. Nana Suarna H.MM, was appointed as Principal at:
